Profit is a choice not an accident!
Why do business owners choose not to make a profit? Even more concerning is when the business owner is so oblivious that they don’t know if they are making money or not because they are fueled by ego and optimism. Do you know someone like that?
Many years ago when I started my business the excitement of owning a business and the thrill sale made me oblivious to profit- I did a great job, my clients referred me, I made ends meet, could walk around with the ultimate success title in the world- “ What do you do for a living” –“ I own a business, a big business with a lot of employees , we build a lot of things all over the place” – in reality translated to “ I own a torturous, never ending, energy draining, exhausting, money losing business that’s killing me day by day” –“ But don’t worry the next sale will come, we will get bigger, hire more people and be rich someday because I work really hard, so hard I don’t see my friends or family, but that’s ok because that’s what it takes to be rich” What an idiot!
Not only was I an idiot, I was a total idiot – that mindset haunted me for years until I decided that I was done being a people pleasing, producer of underpriced jobs and owner of a money losing business, and wanted to be a profitable, people pleasing, owner of a highly profitable business that gives me the lifestyle that I want.
